OBJECTIVE: To gain invaluable experience working with Linux/Unix systems.

I ran a home Windows server (for 2 years) and now a Linux server (for 3 year) including these services among others:

  • HTTP
  • HTTPS
  • FTP
  • PHP-4
  • MySQL
  • SMTP
  • IMAP-4
  • POP3
  • SSH
  • cups
  • NFS
  • SMB

I have also been exposed Solaris 10.

Other skills learnt in this field include:

Basic Python coding, Bash scripting, HTML, CSS, PHP, Networking (inc. Firewall, NAT, DNS, DHCP management), file system management, Operating System installation, data recovery methods.

I have used Asterisk over the years, mostly in the form of Trixbox to have a ready-to-go Asterisk server. Utilised Trixbox in setting up an office's communication system.

Software I have developed can be downloaded from the software link on my blog (www.dward.us) or direct link www.dward.us/software.

See this site as an example. I also manage several domains:

  1. dward.us
  2. jward.net
  3. wspirates.com
  4. wspirates.com
  5. ward.myvnc.com
  6. taggingaustralia.com.au

I manage the mail boxes for the domains listed above. They facilitate both SMTP and IMAP4/POP3 services.

I am the founder of the West Sydney Pirates Forum (http://forums.wspirates.com/) and am head administrator for it currently.

I have spent a number of years learning how to edit video professionally. I capture video from analog sources in high quality lossless formats or transfer from a digital source and then edit with special effects, lossy codecs such as DivX, XviD and lavc (mp4) on the video stream and Ogg Vorbis, Speex or mp3 on the audio and then put that into an AVI, OGM or Matroska containers for archiving or sharing with team-mates. Most of this is with football video footage of our games. A sample is found here.
